PANDEGLANG – The Pandeglang Regency Government is stepping up efforts to support vulnerable families and ensure that residents in need receive appropriate social assistance and government services.
Through the Pandeglang Housing, Settlement and Land Agency (DPKPP), the local government conducted an assessment of residents living in uninhabitable homes in Babakan Kalanganyar Urban Village, Pandeglang District. The verification was carried out in coordination with local village officials to directly assess housing conditions and the circumstances of the affected families.
The verification process is part of the government’s efforts to determine the most appropriate form of intervention. As a follow-up, verified households will be proposed for inclusion in the Banten Provincial Government’s uninhabitable housing improvement programme, subject to the applicable procedures and programme requirements.
The government’s response has also extended beyond housing improvements. Through the Social Affairs Agency, the Pandeglang Regency Government conducted further assessments of families living in substandard housing in Pandeglang District. The assessment involved PKH social assistance facilitators, district officials and local village authorities.
During the visits, the Social Affairs Agency also distributed basic food packages and children’s supplies to help meet the families’ immediate daily needs.
The assistance reflects the government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable residents while responding directly to the circumstances identified on the ground.
The assessment results will subsequently serve as the basis for a more integrated intervention. The Social Affairs Agency will ensure that social assistance, including the Family Hope Programme (PKH), food assistance and Contribution Assistance for Health Insurance (PBI), is properly received and utilized by the families concerned.
Coordination is also being carried out with the Housing and Settlement Agency to encourage improvements to the families’ homes, as well as with local community health centres to address their healthcare needs.
In addition, the government plans to coordinate with the Population Control, Family Planning, Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Agency (DP2KBP3A) to provide education on family planning and contraception according to the families’ needs.
Authorities will also work to ensure that children from the affected households have access to education, including through the Sekolah Rakyat programme, subject to the results of the assessment and applicable requirements.
Addressing the needs of people living in uninhabitable homes is not simply a matter of repairing buildings. It also involves social welfare, healthcare, education, social protection and overall family wellbeing. For this reason, the Pandeglang Regency Government is encouraging cross-sector coordination to ensure that community problems are addressed comprehensively and sustainably.
Through these measures, the Pandeglang Regency Government has reaffirmed its commitment to remaining present and working alongside the community.
Every situation identified in the field will be followed up according to the government’s authority and the programmes available, with the aim of ensuring that vulnerable families receive the support they need.
