LEBAK – In celebration of the 81st anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day, residents of Kampung Nambo, Lebak Regency, held a series of festive activities marked by enthusiasm, solidarity and a strong spirit of community.
The celebrations began with an Independence Day parade involving residents from across Kampung Nambo. The procession was accompanied by traditional angklung music, adding a distinctive cultural touch while highlighting the community’s commitment to preserving traditional arts amid the rapid changes of modern times.
Following the parade, the festivities continued with a variety of competitions involving children, young people and members of the wider community. Residents showed great enthusiasm from the beginning of the event through to the final competition.
Remarkably, the entire celebration was organized and funded through community self-reliance. No financial contribution was provided by the local government. Instead, the costs were covered through voluntary contributions from residents, who willingly set aside part of their own money to support the Independence Day celebrations.
The initiative demonstrated the strong spirit of mutual cooperation among the people of Kampung Nambo. Despite limited resources, residents worked together to ensure that the Independence Day festivities could still take place.
Event chairman Yusuf Maulana expressed his appreciation to everyone who contributed, whether through financial support, time or physical effort.
“This event was made possible by the togetherness of the community. There was no financial contribution from the local government, but residents voluntarily set aside some of their money to support the celebration. For us, what matters most is not the size of the contribution, but the spirit of togetherness and mutual cooperation shown by the residents,” he said on Monday (August 17, 2026).
He added that the community’s enthusiasm for celebrating Independence Day demonstrated that financial limitations should not prevent people from commemorating the nation’s independence.
“We are extremely grateful to everyone who contributed. Some donated money, while others gave their time, energy and support by taking part in the event. Every contribution was meaningful to making this celebration possible,” he said.
Beyond providing entertainment, the celebration also served as an opportunity to strengthen social bonds and solidarity among residents. The parade, accompanied by traditional angklung music, gave the 81st Independence Day celebrations in Kampung Nambo a unique character while helping preserve traditional culture and introduce it to younger generations.
The spirit of self-reliance and mutual cooperation displayed by the residents became a defining feature of the celebration. The people of Kampung Nambo demonstrated that commemorating Independence Day does not necessarily have to depend on government funding, but can instead be realized through community initiative, concern and collective effort.
Through the festivities, residents hope that the values of unity, mutual cooperation and concern for their community will continue to thrive—not only during Indonesia’s Independence Day celebrations, but also in their everyday lives.
