SERANG – Iti Octavia Jayabaya has been unanimously re-elected as Chairwoman of the Banten Provincial Executive Board (DPD) of Indonesia’s Democratic Party for the 2026–2031 term following the party’s 5th Regional Congress (Musda V).
Her re-election was confirmed by acclamation after all voting delegates threw their support behind her as the sole nominee for the position, underscoring the strong unity within the party’s provincial ranks.
The decision was formally endorsed during the congress’s plenary session. When the presiding chair sought approval from delegates, the proposal received unanimous backing, reflecting the broad confidence party members have placed in Iti’s leadership for the next five years.
Herman Khaeron, Secretary-General of the Democratic Party’s Central Executive Board (DPP), said Iti’s uncontested victory was a clear demonstration of the trust she enjoys among party cadres. He emphasized that such confidence should serve as a foundation for building a stronger and more competitive organization in the years ahead.
“Going forward, I want everyone to become part of a working cabinet—everyone must contribute and represent every regency and municipality across Banten Province,” Herman said, on Friday (July 31, 2026).
He stressed that the new provincial leadership should reflect the party’s full potential by involving representatives from all eight regencies and municipalities across the province.
Meanwhile, Ossy Dermawan, Head of the Party Organization, Membership and Cadre Development Agency (BPOKK), praised the smooth conduct of the regional congress, describing it as orderly, democratic, and marked by a strong spirit of unity. According to him, the atmosphere demonstrated during the event provides a solid foundation for strengthening the party’s organizational structure and preparing for future political challenges.
In addition to electing a new provincial leadership, the congress urged the Banten chapter to begin preparations for district-level branch congresses (Muscab) as part of a broader effort to reinforce the party’s organizational network at the grassroots level ahead of upcoming political contests.
The event also drew the attention of the party’s national leadership. Democratic Party Chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) addressed participants virtually, while Banten Governor Andra Soniattended the congress in person as the guest of honor.
The outcome of the regional congress will now be submitted to the Democratic Party’s Central Executive Board for formal ratification in accordance with the party’s constitution, bylaws, and organizational regulations.
Bringing the event to a close, Iti delivered an impassioned address, calling on Democratic Party members throughout Banten to strengthen their unity, reinforce solidarity, and work collectively to prepare the party for the political challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
