JAKARTA, The Banten Post – Tanjung Lesung’s planned skydiving attraction could add a major sport-tourism draw to Banten, but visitors should treat its December target as a project timetable, not proof that the operation is already open or fully cleared for public jumps.
PT Banten West Java (BWJ), developer and operator of the Tanjung Lesung Tourism Special Economic Zone in Pandeglang Regency, signed an agreement with PT Bro Skydive Indonesia to develop skydiving, sport aviation and aviation-tourism activities. Antara reported on Oct. 5 that the partners expected the facilities to begin operating in the second week of December 2026.
What is being built at Tanjung Lesung?
According to BWJ Operations Director Kunto Wijoyo, the main works include a nine-hectare landing zone, an extended aircraft parking area and a taxiway. He said the runway at Salakanagara Tanjung Lesung Airport would be extended by 200 meters “to ensure safer landings.” The plan also includes using an existing airport hangar and adding an office for the operator.
Fanny Kusuma Dewi, president director of PT Bro Skydive Indonesia, said in BWJ’s written release that the company aimed to be operational before the year-end holidays. She described the proposed drop zone as an international-standard facility, but that is an operator claim, not an independent certification finding. The release did not publish a regulator’s approval, a detailed operating manual, insurance terms or a completed inspection record.
Why is the plan drawing attention now?
The announcement comes as access to the area is expected to improve. BWJ and Antara said the Cileles–Bojong section of the Serang–Panimbang Toll Road was targeted for completion in November 2026, while the full toll network was projected for the second quarter of 2027. BWJ said the completed route could reduce travel from Jakarta to Tanjung Lesung to about two to 2.5 hours, although that forecast depends on the road opening as scheduled and actual traffic.
Google Trends Indonesia was accessible for this check, but its public page did not expose a query-specific chart or numerical rise for “Tanjung Lesung skydiving.” The recent Antara, Kompas and BWJ reports provide a clearer documented reason for the online discussion: the cooperation announcement and the promised December opening. No trend number is reported here.
What should visitors verify before booking?
First, ask the operator to identify the current aviation and tourism approvals covering the drop zone, aircraft, instructors and commercial passenger jumps. Confirm the instructor’s recognized credentials, tandem-jump briefing, equipment inspection schedule, reserve-parachute procedures, age and health rules, cancellation policy and liability insurance. Visitors should also ask whether the advertised service is tandem skydiving, solo training or a demonstration, because the training and supervision requirements differ.
Second, check the day’s go/no-go decision rather than relying on a promotional photograph. BMKG’s Pandeglang and southern Banten marine services publish forecasts for rain, cloud, wind and sudden gusts; its southern-Banten page displays gust warnings as a distinct condition. Weather near the coast can change quickly, so the operator should explain who makes the final launch decision and how customers are rebooked.
Finally, confirm the landing area, briefing location, transport arrangements and emergency response plan. Basarnas lists emergency call 115 and, in a Banten preparedness notice, the Kantor SAR Banten number 0811-1915-115. Those contacts do not replace the operator’s own rescue plan, first-aid provision and incident reporting procedures. Until the operator publishes verifiable approvals and operating details, the safest assumption is that Tanjung Lesung skydiving remains a planned attraction—not a jump that visitors should book without questions.
